How we work

An approach tailored to your decisions

LAWINT provides strategic advice, negotiation support and audits, acts as external legal counsel or an outsourced DPO, and handles mediation and litigation. The approach depends on the stage of the project, the people involved and the intended outcome.

Agree the scope together

An initial discussion establishes the context, urgency, available documents and the role of other advisers or technical experts.

Know what to expect

The engagement letter sets out the agreed work, contacts and deliverables. No standard timeframe or outcome is promised before the matter has been assessed.

Advice and negotiation

LAWINT steps in when a project requires a legal strategy, decisions on competing priorities and negotiation. Its advice reflects the company's objectives, the parties involved and, where relevant, the international aspects of the matter.

Strategic advice

Before a launch, a negotiation or a change in business activities, legal questions must be considered alongside commercial and operational decisions. LAWINT helps decision-makers identify their options, assess risks and plan the decision-making process.

Establish the framework

Objectives, stakeholders, contracts, regulations and timelines are reviewed to distinguish issues requiring a decision from information that is still missing.

Prepare for the decision

A memorandum, a working session or a roadmap can set out the scenarios, conditions and decisions required within the agreed scope.

International advice and negotiation

A cross-border transaction raises additional questions about governing law, language, liability and coordination between advisers. LAWINT helps prepare and conduct contract negotiations with regard to the jurisdictions and parties involved.

Identify the key issues

The scope, risks, dispute resolution mechanisms and local constraints are identified before the final documents are drafted.

Bring the right expertise together

The firm works with appropriate contacts and advisers where the matter requires an assessment of foreign law.

Achieving compliance and providing ongoing support

From the initial assessment to ongoing support, LAWINT helps organisations set priorities, prepare the documents they need and monitor implementation. The scope of external legal counsel or outsourced DPO services is agreed with the client.

Audit and compliance programme

A useful audit establishes what applies, what is already in place and what remains to be decided. LAWINT works with the company to build a compliance programme proportionate to the agreed scope.

Assess the current position

Documents, practices, contracts and responsibilities are assessed against the requirements identified when defining the scope.

Prioritise actions

The programme may specify procedures, clauses, approvals, responsibilities and implementation stages. Deliverables are agreed as part of the engagement.

External legal counsel

Some projects require a legal adviser who can support decisions over time. LAWINT can advise the company on an agreed scope of contracts, digital projects or compliance matters.

Establish a working framework

The matters covered, contacts, process for requesting advice and frequency of discussions are agreed with the company.

Support ongoing decisions

Ongoing support addresses new contracts, decisions and legal questions as projects develop, within agreed availability arrangements.

Outsourced DPO

An organisation may need external support to manage its personal data governance. LAWINT offers an outsourced Data Protection Officer (DPO) service, subject to agreeing the independence, resources and scope of the role.

Define the role

Contacts, processing activities, existing documentation, communications with data subjects and relations with the CNIL are reviewed at the outset.

Monitor the framework

The engagement may cover advice, awareness-raising, document reviews and risk reporting within a framework agreed with the organisation.

Preventing and resolving disputes

When a disagreement arises, LAWINT examines the facts, evidence, contract and the company's objectives. Mediation, negotiation or litigation are considered according to the circumstances.

Mediation and litigation

Disputes do not all call for the same response. LAWINT assesses negotiation, mediation and formal proceedings with the client, taking account of the evidence, costs, timetable and importance of the relationship.

Develop the strategy

The matter is analysed to define the position to defend, potential concessions and the risks of escalation.

Pursue the chosen approach

The firm supports discussions, records an agreement where possible or prepares the client's defence in the appropriate proceedings.
